Re: sub frame
I bought a 96 Z with less damage in the front than that one. I just parted it out, it wasn't worth the trouble to me. Once they are hit there, and esp that bad, they are F-ed up, look to see if it bent the floor pan underneath. I paid $1500 for mine with everything there, and all new panels. I say that is a rip for a grand. I definately would not buy it.
Re: sub frame

Re: sub frame
If your talking about the rails, then yes, you can repair those. You have to section in the rails with a new part. You can get them from G.M.. Call around, different dealers, different prices. The rest of the car can be pulled back together on a frame rack. This is where you need to find a competant body shop that has the time to do this. Look for certification from, ICAR, Masters, and good ol' ASE. ICAR is the most obvious sign of a good shop.
Since this isn't going to be a show car, then I wouldn't worry about the way it looks, just make sure that the frame measures out. Ask for the print out!! All of the numbers should be in the green. They will also have to make some rough pulls before they splice in the ends. Any more questions feel free to pm me. I might know a guy or two that could help you out.
and remember, if this was 1998 and the car only had 10,000 miles on it it more than likely would have been repaired.
One more thing, try the tow yards, I sold a 98' Z28 minus engine and tranny hit less than that for $300 to a salvage yard. Salvage yards sell parts, tow yards just want to get rid of the junk!
