Re: STRANGE Adjustable front shocks

I am in the process of installing a set. 10 position double adjustable 2 1/2" coil over 300# springs with bearing kit. They look very similar to HALīs QA1. Cost a few bucks less.

The shock body itself is about 2" shorter than the stock shock. The total extended and compressed length is equal to the stock length, though. The stock plastic covers that include bump stops for full suspension compression cannot be carried over from the stock shocks to these units. And if one did install them, they would be useless because of the shorter body.

Is this the same with QA1 shocks? Hopefully someone that has done a QA1 install can comment.

I just recently installed a set of QA1s on the front of my car.

I used an OE upper shock mount on mine.

There were no plastic covers on my stock shocks to transfer, so I'm not sure what you're talking about there.

I am talking about the cylindrical plastic part open on one end that covers the shock absorber rod. It also contains a bump stop on the inside. At least thats how my shocks were put together.

Oh that. I forgot about those. I'm not using them right now. I wasn't about to take the stock stuff apart with the nuts rusted like they were. I just left them together and put the new setups together.

Mine are shorter, and the lower spring perch is high enough that I don't think I could use them anyway, I think it would just crush the plastic tube. Plus, the instructions from QA1 didn't mention them. I think my QA1's have an integral bump stop anyway.
