Spring/Strut Install
Spring/Strut Install
I'm going to be doing the springs and struts (front and back) on my friends lift this weekend. I have a spring compressor, pickel fork, and air tools for the job. Is there anything else I need or is there any problems I might come into contact with. The car is a 95 TA with 125k miles on stock suspension. Stock suspension from a 2002 Z28 w/ 2k miles on it is going in.
Re: Spring/Strut Install
I just did mine , i removed the coilover then put the spring compressers on it and had one hell of a hard time getting the nut off the top of the shock. I ended up romoving the snap ring on the lower end of the shock then using a sawzall i cut the shock rod. If you are using the whole coilover assembly fron the 02 then you dont have to take the old ones apart. If not you need the rubber isolaters and mount from the old ones. As far as using a pickle fork you may damage the grease boots. I just loosened the nuts and carefully whacked then with a hammer. ( the nuts on the tie-rods, ball joints ) Have fun, lol, they can be a bear to wrestle in sometimes.

Re: Spring/Strut Install
I would have front top shock mounts bought and on hand, because with 125K on the OE you will not easily get them to release from the shock shaft, and when they do release they will most likely destroy the upper mount.
