Single Caliper Brake Bleed
Single Caliper Brake Bleed
While doing the brakes on my 2000 Camaro I had to replace the front passenger caliper because the piston was seized up. I’ve read that if you have independent brake lines with an ABS system you can bleed a single caliper. Seeing as all the nipples are fairly rusty and don’t want to move, could I get away with just bleeding the one caliper? I did follow the brake line back to the ABS block to confirm if it was truly independent but I’m wondering if anyone has had any luck doing a single or if I should just go ahead and bite the bullet and do all 4. I know bleeding the ABS system is a whole other can of worms, but does anyone have any suggestions on what to do here? Any help is appreciated.
Re: Single Caliper Brake Bleed
I would not risk it personally. Worst case scenario you can buy new bleeder valves. Spray some penetrating oil on the valves 10 minutes before attempting to better your chances of not hurting anything.
I would start by bleeding the caliper you replaced, then when fluid is solid, start at the rear passenger wheel and work up like a normal job.
