SFCs and so forth....

Looking at getting some goodies for my car this spring before I hit the road this summer! So I kinda have some stupid questions...

First off, are Double Diamond SFCs that much better than regular ole boxed or tubular Subs?

Second, is a panhard rod whatever gonna really make all that much of a difference in the feel of the ride?

Third... A-pillars... or should I save my money for other mods first.

All my car has done to it is full exhaust and cai.

Questions aren't stupid. Thats how you learn.

What do you want to do with the car? If you want to drag race or just drive around tubulars will be just fine. If you want to do heavy road racing then the DD will work well. If you want to go inbetween get the boxed. (The boxed will cost you about an inch of ground clearance though).

Nope

Why? Save your money.

Good start. Remember, its never a waste of money on suspension
I inserted my comments above.

Re: SFCs and so forth....

If you are looking into subframe connectors you will want to stick with either a round tube design or a triangulated design. Round tube will be stronger per weight over any other style in bending and torsion. The triangle style gets it torsion strength by acting as a lever arm and therefore spreading the load through the car. As for a single piece square, don't waste your money. They will help but only in keeping the chassis from bending and they will have very little torsion stiffness. If you are going with a round tube design make sure you get one similar to ours which you can stitch weld along the rocker panel along with the front and rear subframe.

A panhard rod will not affect the ride quality but it will help in acceleration and help reduce wheel hop. We did a test on a four link setup which used rubber bushings. What we found is the rear-end would move laterally during acceleration over 2.5 inches. Just eliminating the rubber bushings with a polyurethane version will help but you will still have the flexible panhard rod itself. Good luck and if you ever have any technical questions you are always welcome to email or call us directly.

In my opinion the DDs are the best.
Mine have been on the car well over 5 years and they still look good and are holding up wonderfully.
Tubular will work fine for the street or drag racing, you only NEED DDs when your road racing the car.
