I run a boxed style weld in, they tuck and fit great. Def go with a weld in version I am not a big fan of bolt ins, the boxed style also lets you jack the car up pretty much anywhere.

SLP weld in SFC
had them on both my SS's and loved them.

as for STB, up to you, I feel they arent worth the money, but if you do want one the SLP one looks good.

I like the BMR or Spohn tubular SFC's. I agree with the people above on the STB not being really needed unless you're going to be doing some auto x racing. If you feel you need one I'd suggest going with the LG Motorsports brace.

another vote for the BMR boxed sfc, they are great pieces for $160 and you can chose your color, which is a nice bonus.

i have plenty of pics of the install and the final product on page 3 of my website in the sig

Re: Which sfc & which stb for 97 Z hardtop?

I have BMR's tubular subframe connectors. They were cheap, fit well, and are invisible while looking at the car. My buddy has BMR Boxed SFC's and they hang down and look very ugly IMHO. I can jack anywhere off my SFC's too so thats not a big selling point. They say Boxed is stronger and it probably is but i doubt too many people here are gonna be pushing them to the limit and if they do they probably need to upgrade to a roll cage.
Tubular
Pro's = cheaper, almost invisible on the car,
Con's = Strong enough to get the job done but not as strong as boxed.

Boxed
Pro's = more expensive, Strong but probably over kill
Con's = Very noticable on the car (Ugly in myIMHO)

As for the STB probably not needed unless you road race. My friend has one on his Ram Air car and he told me you have to remove the STB to do any work on the car.

BMR Tubular
cheaper, tuck under the car

SLP Boxed double diamond
cant see unless you look for them, and even then have to be at an extreme angle, much more ridged, jack from a flat surface and not a rounded one, second to none welding, noticable more ridged, if you bottom out over a speed bump, now they hit and not your transmission.

your right, jsut jump out and bite you cause they are so noticable... those are the SLP fyi
you cant see them unless you look for them, and cause the car is low they are hard to see even when looking.

This is my buddies car. He even admits they stick out. You can see them hanging down very visibly if you ask me. It is really noticable on a side shot, I wish i had one. I guess most car guys notice stuff like that. It just sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

paint it flat black and you will never see it. leave it bare or paint it red and everyone will notice it. the SLP's stick down about a 1/2".
