Replacing front ball joints, what else should I replace while I'm down there?

The car has 140k on it and I've never changed out the struts or anything down there. What other things should I replace while I'm switching out the upper and lower control arm ball joints? Tie rod ends, struts? Also, what will I need to do a full upper and lower (front) ball joint replacement. I've heard it will be hard to press them in and out, but I'm short on cash and I can't afford aftermarket a-arms. Thanks in advance.

I would replace the outer tie rod ends (Moog), upper and lower A arm bushings and shocks. The stock shocks are poor performers. A set of Bilsteins aren't too expensive and will greater improve handling. I went with poly bushings. If you live in cold weather, you'll probably get some noise with them during the dead of winter but here in CA they're quiet. Also inspect your sway bar bushings and end link bushings.

Also give you wheel a tug and check the front wheel bearings.

our style of front hubs are sealed and you can't replace the bearings correct? you have to buy the entire unit and just replace it in the steering knuckle.

You are correct, but the tug test is still checking for play in the bearings.

Best price I've seen for a replacement hub assembly is Autozone's webpage (buying it on-line is cheaper than buying it in their store). It's about $112 and free shipping, and utilizes Timken bearings.
