rear end

ok don't really know anything about rear ends, but my car and my buddies 2001 z28, the rear sits about 1/2 inch out on the passenger side. someone told me that its possible that my car was wrecked, but found out my buddies 10k mile 2001 garage kept car is the same way. so i am just a lil curious as to what it could possibly be.. and another question i'm looking to get a 12 bolt or a 9", when a ten bolt goes out on you, what is it that actually breaks? or does it vary?

Re: rear end

Are the cars lowered at all? They might need an adjustable panhard rod to center the axle under the car.

When ten bolts break it is usually the teeth on the ring and pinion. The posi units seem to stay in tact for the most part, or slowly die off. Ring and pinions, though, snap.
