Pulling the rear wheel back and forth causes a clunk..what is that??

The car is parked, off, in gear w/ e-brake on. When I grab the rear tire and push/pull it in and out, to make the car shimmy side to side, I hear a clunking sound. What is that? Axle play, bad LCA bushings? Just normal, cause my Z71 pu does it too, but not as loud.
Thanks

Jack up the rear, does the tire actually slide in and out any? If so its probably normal. I know in a Jeep Cherokee they allow something like 0.5cm of in/out play per side, sounds rediculous but its true (I freaked when I discovered it on my jeep). You might just sit on the floor and put one foot up under the car and brace it against the LCA to take it out of the equation, if it the tire still moves it is likely something with the axleshaft, and probably normal, if it stops may be the LCA (It is VERY common for even a totally stock LT1/LS1 to trash the stock LCA bushings in <1 year of nml abuse). Otherwise if it doesnt do it while driving, just stop yanking on your tire. Also, check your lugs!

addition to the previous post; you are likely hearing the c-clips as the hit the inside of the carrier (?) from axle end play. There is enough end play to allow the c-clip to be exposed (Push in) for removal. I don't know the actual clearance specs off hand.

Thanks guys. Lugs are tight, and all the other ideas sound right. I'll just stop yanking on my tire!!! There's enough stuff on my car that needs attention, I should stop looking for more problems.
Thanks!
