Pro Kit vs. SLP's Eibach Springs
Pro Kit vs. SLP's Eibach Springs
I have the slp eibach springs with the bilstein shocks valved for slp's specs, because my car came with the bilstein level II suspension. my car now has 42k miles on it and i notice that the rear right is beginning to sag a bit, and the shocks are worn out. i talked to slp and they suggested that i replace the shocks and springs with the same ones, just new. when i asked him how they compare to eibach's pro kit he said that their springs are also eibach but they're not lowered and they give a bit of a softer ride around town but when you hit the corners they perform. i believe they're called progressive. He said that the pro kit would be not only lowering the car, but also make it a hard ride, and i'm not sure if he's just telling me that because they dont sell the pro kit, is there any truth to that??? Im set on getting the bilstein shocks valved for slp's specs, and i need some help choosing the springs. thanks guys.
No, he is telling the truth. pro-kit will drop the car 1 to 1.5". The ride will be much stiffer. Then you run into the trouble of shock wearing out even faster as most shocks aren't up to handling the srping rate of the prokit.
lowering the car isnt a big thing that i really have to do, so it seems like i'll be better off just replacing the shocks and springs with the slp spec'd bilsteins and eibachs
i'll be doing front and rear. i drive mostly street with some passes at the drag strip and maybe a road course race here or there, but not much. its mostly street and highway stuff, and i def. notice that the car just doesnt handle like it used to.
If you're going to the trouble of doing the front, I wouldn't go back with SLP.
My suggestion FWIW is to call Sam Strano for his advice. Since you're doing both drag and light road race/autocross, he might have some suggestions for you that I might not think of. It'll be the BEST phone call you could make.
