Power Steering Pump Rebuild or Replace??

I need a new pump or i need to rebuild mine. Its a fairly new remanufactured ubit and runs fine with no noise but it leaks. I looked at GM Parts Direct and i almost fell off my chair!!

$500 list and they are kind enough to offer it to me for $300

My God!!! I was thinking it was a $90 part. They also sell the seal kit for $9
Has anyone ever rebuilt their own pump with good success ??

I see that Jegs carries a replacement pump from a company called AGR Pumps and they state much better than OEM...yada yada yada I see there really popular with the off road and hot rod guys. Its $159

Turn One is one company that makes great pumps and also checkout www.Rockauto.com for a pump.

when I replaced mine I went to autozone and bought one, came out to 80 something dollars, then got like 20 back for core so it was 60-70 dollars, don't know where the receipt is or I could tell you exact numbers.

change the fluid, when mine begins to sound like a sick cow i know its time to change the fluid. It helps out my car, i changed the fluid 3 times over 4 years and 70k miles.

You are correct...almost to the dollar.
I just ordered an ACDelco unit yesterday for $90.97 ($70.97+$20 core charge) through GM Parts House.

Item: PUMP
Price: $70.97
Tax: $4.26
Qty: 1
Total: $75.23

I just tried to find a pn, but all of the order details that I can find are listed like above w/o a part number. Call Gene at GM Parts House and he'll help you out. BTW, if you search for a PS pump on that site, you'll only see the $300+ version, but the rebuilt version is available.
