panhard rod brace

Can someone tell me what to torque the 3 upper bolts on the panhard rod brace? I was too cheap to buy a $30 helms manual last month, maybe the 96 editions will go on sale next year!

Re: panhard rod brace

in my haynes book for 3rd gen f-bodies the torque spec is 58 lbsft
in my chiltons manual for 3rd gen, it varies from
58, for 82-87
78 for 88
80 for 89-91
and 76 for 92

the 3rd and 4th gen use the same exact rear suspension so i hope this helps

Re: panhard rod brace

thanks for the info, I have the 93-2000 Haynes repair manual but I can't find any torque specs for the panhard rod brace. I tried 58 ft lbs but I stopped as it felt like I was going to snap the 3 bolts on top. I torqued the single bolt on the passenger side to 61 ft lbs, is that correct with your manual since mine shows none?

Re: panhard rod brace

In my '95 service manual, it specs 35 lb.ft. for the three bolts on the driver side upper frame. The other three bolt/nut setups for the panhard rod and upper brace on the passenger side specs 61 lb.ft. if it helps you out. Let me know if you need anything else unless someone else chimes in with a different spec from a '96 manual.
Allan.

Re: panhard rod brace

I tend to use my elbow torque-o-meter for those kinds of things.
