odd road noises

I installed my control arms a few weeks ago and had an increase in general road noise, which is fine. But while I was driving home the other day, the right one came loose and the nut fell off. (finally fixed that the right way, it ISN'T coming off again!) But after I fixed it, I get this almost metallic pulsing sound that I think to be from the tires... Does anyone know what this is? How can I fix it? thanks!

Did the control arm, or one end of it, actually come loose from the car? If so, I'd check your driveshaft and u-joints out pretty carefully. You could have been driving with your axle out of line, and the driveshaft at an interesting angle...

it didn't actually come out. the bolt was still in there, just the nut fell off... do you think I need to get the tires re-aligned? do i still need to check the U joints etc? moreover, do i just have to live with this annoying noise or can i fix it? it sounds like my boyfriend's jeep on 37" boggers... with the loud tires and all....

I couldn't tell you from here, on those things. If the LCA stayed in place, I wouldn't expect anything to do with your driveshaft or u-joints as I was mentioning. For that matter, if it was just the nut on the LCA falling off, I can't think of anything that could go wrong except for the loose nut landing somewhere like inside your brake caliper. Seems pretty doubtful though. The rear wheels on the f-body don't get aligned, by the way.

I'd just get under there, spin the wheels around, and see if you can spot the noise. It doesn't sound like something you'd want to just live with - it shouldn't be there.
