Need help with a vibration problem

Im having trouble tracking down where this vibration is coming from in my car. Its only when im lightly on the brakes above 50mph or so. If im on them hard or if im below that speed approximately, it doesnt do it at all. Its not a HORRIBLE vibration, but itll shake the wheel around the make the car vibrate a little bit. I dont think its warped rotors because the pedal doesnt vibrate at all.

Sounds like warped rotors to me.

Re: Need help with a vibration problem

That was my first guess, but the rotors are powerslot rotors and are only a year and a half old. Plus, it only does it above 50, not vibration AT ALL below 50 when im on the brakes.

Re: Need help with a vibration problem

You could take the rotors of and measure the runout of the rotor. I will agree with you that this is an odd type problem. Unbalanced wheels will vibrate proportionally to speed but will do it under accel and deccel, which you are experiencing this only under braking. If the brakes needed to be bled then it would just be a softer pedal, so not necessarily vibrating. Thats why the only thing I could think of could be warped rotors.

Torquing down lugnuts with an impact wrench could warp any rotor; Powerslot or cheapies.
