Need help with launch upgrades

Working on changing my current suspension to a more drag oriented suspension. Ive already got tubular short torque arm, tubular non adjustable lca's with the erlocation brackets, running 3.73 gear and nitto DR's with bilstein tuned suspension kit (springs and shocks). Im looking at maybe swapping out the front shocks with the QA1 stocker star drag shocks, but will I need to swap the springs out as well? I know BMR makes cups to fit stock style springs on them. Could someone explain the front spring rate and how it affects the launch of a vehicle? I comprehend the shock settings but I dont see how lighter spring rate would be better for drag racing? What about the rear springs? I hear alot of people keep v6 springs in the back? This isn't a fulltime drag car, but I dont drive it too much. Id like to keep it somewhat streetable without going to double adjustable shocks as they're a little more than I wanted to spend.

BTW, im running 1.8 best 60 ft to date, but cant full throttle out of the hole on motor only. Best 1/8 so far was a 7.73 @ 93. Added sig to next post below.

M6 or auto? What kind of rwhp approximately? Is the TA adjustable? Ready to give up on the Nittos?

yeah sorry some more info might help out. Its an A4, adjustable torque arm set to -2*, probably in the range of 450 rwhp with the boost and spray. I do believe the nittos have peaked on this car, it is asking quite a bit from them , huh? Im going to be upgrading to some m/t ET Streets on 15" rims soon, haven't decided on 28" or ? Im running out of 2nd gear at the end of the 1/8 as it is now with 275/40/17 nittos now. Do you think the m/t's with front QA1's and the rear summit adjustable drags alone will do the job? Do you think the stocker stars are a good choice or just the regular adjustable QA1's?

I like the MT street radials on a 15" wheel. Why not start there and see what happens before investing more money? How much before the stripe are you running out of rpm? It's better to run out of rpm a hair before the finish than to have rpm left over.

actually, in the 1/8 mile I need to shift id say .5 sec or more b4 the line. im gonna mess with the shift points a little, and im throwin a new opti on because im getting a little spark loss at the high rpm's (around 6500). I think the optical sensor may be tweakin at that speed. Its a msd cap and rotor, about a year and a half old, and i cleaned it up and re-sealed it about a yr. ago.

I'm about 480rwhp and the car dead hooks with the MTs. Relocation brackets using the bottom hole and a Spohn adj. TA set at -2. I'm on Eibach Pro lowering springs and stock shocks. Oh yeah, an airbag in the right rear set at 20lbs. For now it works and I don't know why.

Cool, I see you're running about where I would be in the 1/4 (estimating from my 1/8th). Thats kind of what I was looking to hear, at least its a start. Ive been thinking about moving up to et streets anyways, just waiting on my pops to send me my 15" centerlines I had stored. I know alot of people say nittos aren't good past 400 hp, but they worked ok for me 'til now. Whats the biggest tire you can fit in 4th gen? I know people runnin 275/50/15, can we fit the 295's in there or do they rub (if so where and with what backspace)? I can always beat up the inner wheel well or fender edge if need be.

Yup! Stock 10 bolt/axles/diff. as well, with 3.73's I installed. Got something to prove, and I dont care if the engine pops, ive got others laying around. I just hope the heads will be salvageable. Once I can hook and maybe get a sub 1.6 60 ft. and work out the few minor bugs Ive got Ive got one smaller pulley and another 25hp jet to go, if the engine can take it and I should see the results im looking for. It seems to like the way it is now, ran great after 9 runs (5 w/spray) and drove home fine. If she makes 11.50 or better I wont be disappointed. Its all in good fun.

Just keep an eye on the plugs, and keep the tune safe. Good luck.
