Need Help with Air Bag Light & ABS INOP Light.GREMLINS

Hi i have a 94 Camaro z28 m6 wit the ABS inop light which comes on as soon as i start moving. I have cleaned the Ground Terminals near the battery, and have searched for as much info as possible with little luck on finding the right fix. If anyone has any insight, suggestions or can shed some light on what they did to fix similar issues i would really appreciate it. I love the forums. Without you I'd have to buy a Honda. Thanks!

True words on the Honda! That's what I had right before my z28. Could it be a faulty sensor? Any codes?

I'll have to run the diagnostics again.

I decided to start with the easy one. If the ABS light is off but comes on when you move. This is referred to as a soft failure and is almost always the wheel sensors. If you could scan it you would see that. Most likely the rear sensor in the differential but not always. Depth, tightness and metal contamination all have an effect on the rear sensor.

Airbag is harder. My suggestion is check 2 of the 3 main fuses used for that system. They are: Fuse #1 15 amp, you already know Fuse #9 10 amp is good cause the airbag light is on. Last one is Fuse #16 3 amp.

Then if need be, check the grounds at the right hand shock tower and behind the left kick panel.

Unplug and reconnect C200. It's the huge 48 pin connector also behind the LH kick panel.

After that, we have to ram our heads together to figure it out if that doesn't help.

RE: speedy

speedy you da man! I checked/cleaned all the connections, and no more air bag light. As far as the ABS inop light codes, i had my mechanic scan for them and will update the codes tomorrow. The one that i know of for sure was the rear sensor as you mentioned was in an open loop/bad ground. The weird thing is that on the scanner all of the wheel sensors seem to be showing the the mph going forward, but the front right sensor does not register the mph when going in reverse. If there was a problem with the rear sensor functioning wouldn't it not show the MPH? any ideas? thanks

Scanner will show the one that does not work properly when the ABS light comes on.

Abs inop

Check your 3rd tail light bulbs. I know it sounds crazy, the system sees the restance of the bulbs and when they come on it drops out the cruise. For some reason GM put the ABS system in line with this circut.
I had the same problem, Another member on this forum gave me the heads up. I changed a blown bulb and it cleared the code.

Hope this works.

His problem is a soft failure. The light only comes on when he starts to move. Not the bulb.

A 93 tells you that you had previously set a code (91 or 92) for a problem brake switch signal. Remember that big 48 pin connector I told you about earlier? Guess what goes through it? Power to the switch. Check the brake lights come which I believe they do. After the switch, it branches off on a yellow wire to the 12th pin of the EBCM. Check the connector at the EBCM for voltage when the pedal is depressed. The EBCM is above the left foot under the dash. Metal box, can't miss it.
