Major brake upgrade

Just finished a brake upgrade, I've been collecting parts for a month or so and installed it all today.

I upgraded my LS1 brakes to use C5 13" rotors
I installed russell braided brake lines
I installed Hawk HPS brake pads front and rear
I installed installed Power Slot rotors front and rear

I had C5 rotor brackets on order for a few weeks and found out yesterday they would be another two weeks. After pulling the front wheel I decided I could modify the stock caliper brackets for the C5 rotors. A couple hours with the welder and hacksaw and the deed was done, they fit and work perfectly. Everything else was a piece of cake and went together easily.

Other than a few trips around the block to start the bedding process, I haven't really tested then yet. Initial impressions are awsome. Even light pressure on the pedal produces way more braking then before. Those braided lines are awsome too. You can push on the pedal as hard as you want, I swear it won't move more than an inch or so. The pedal is ROCK HARD!

Re: Major brake upgrade

good to hear. I love the LS1 brakes i just installed but i really want 13 inch rotors to fill up the wheel. I was wondering if the LS1 caliper would work with the C5 rotor and bracket. If you still end up getting your C5 bracket in and are interested in selling it let me know. I may take it off your hands.

No chance of that, I called and canxcelled the order. Not gonna pay for something I don't need. If I had taken a closer look originally, I never would have ordered them. The brackets were easy to modify.

Those 13" rotors look sweet in my SS wheels, not much room left anymore.I can't wait to bed the pads in and see what it can do.

Were you able to reuse the LS1 brake lines? I would probably upgrade to the C5 setup if all it took was new rotors and the caliper brackets.
