LS1 front brake install

I'm finally getting around to upgrading to LS1 front brakes, I have the rotors, calipers and brake lines from an LS1, I didnt get spindles/knuckles though. Most of the posts I read say to use LS1 spindles/knuckles but I saw one that said you can use your stock LT1 knuckles by cutting off the part of the knuckle that is in the way. If I do this will I need anything else or is that the only mod I need to make it fit? If this works I didnt see why most posts say to use the LS1 spindle/knuckle, is this just easier to do or is it required to install LS1 brakes?

Thanks
