LS1 brake upgrade to an LT1

Hello,
I did the all four wheel LS1 brake upgrade to my 93 LT1. Rotor and calipers. Car stops much better!! My question is on a 99 firebird, the brake pedal is much more positive and responsive. You just tap the pedal and it starts to brake seriously. My Lt1 with the same rotors and calipers now will stop, but with more pedal pressure. Is there a difference in brake boosters?? Or what is the difference?? They are both ABS systems.

Thanks

The 93 booster could have been different. 94-02 boosters are the same.

Sounds to me like the brakes need to be bled.

Bleed them, start with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder.

Yeah thanks, I already did that. I think that some power assists use a bigger diameter piston inside, possibly they went to a more powerful unit in later years.

If the brake booster was different I wouldnt be suprised, if some one told me GM let Ford build the 93s it would explain every thing. Best bet on the brake booster is to look up the part #s. What brake lines did you use? I'm doing the LS1 fronts on my 93.

Ha Ha I have been looking for a ford emblem on the car at times!!
The stock brake lines will be too short, I turned the wheels all the way out and measured what I needed. They will have to be ordered custom.
I had made a cam swap, and a few other goodies. The car took off great but I couldn't get the dang thing stopped!! After I did the brake swap it was fine again.
Good luck on your project. You won't regret it, it makes a world of difference!

I used C5 Corvette front hoses when I did the upgrade a few years ago, they have plenty of slack and bolt right up.
