Lowest 60ft with Street Tires?
Anybody getting really low 60fts with street tires? Under 2 sec? I can't seem to get better than 2.1s. Also, what suspension mods seem to be the best. I have boxed lower control arms and planning to get some relo brackets soon.
I have 2200stall and 3.73s in the back, and torque's not the problem. I'm still practicing to get the best launch, without spinning the tires. I've searched the "drag" section and see different ways people are launching A4s. For me, it's just stomp on it, and sometimes I'll still spin my wheels. Don't even try to brake stall the converter...I always spin.
Just wondering if anyone is getting sub 2s with street tires?

The tires I have now are 275/40/17 Cooper 2XS Zeon's and these thing hook great. They are even better when they are new. I have had Pirelli, and Goodyears and they all sucked compared to the Coopers.
Might be a good project to research the street tires that people are using to get these numbers.
I have eard the COMP TA's like above being good.

1.6 or hankook ventus sport K104 tires. Small burn out on well prepped track. I have 275/40/17, all umi performance suspension, and a hughes 3k stalled 4l60e in a 94 Z. I flash the stalled at the line. The tires are as sticky as a DR with a 280 treadwear ratting and "A" traction rating.

Thanks for all the replies...so I'm not too far off. Even when I luckily get a 2.1, there's still a little spin. So wondering when I finally hit that sweet spot with no spin and WOT....
Funny how all you guys with sub 2s are using tires I haven't even heard of. Well, I've heard of them, but don't know too many people that ride on them. Even funnier, most of them are less than $150 each...Kumho MX, Hankook Ventus (had to research to find this one), Fuzion....all at relatively cheap prices.
And all this time I've been forking out the cash for GS-D3s, BFG KWDS, etc. Lots of good that's doing.
Well, back to practicing...will trying that "rolling" trick. Seems tricky..yeah every one says the same thing, "put partial throttle until you feel the tires can handle WOT, then floor it"....yeah, easier said than done.
But I do feel better that my normal 2.1s and 2.2s are not too far from others with streets tires. Well, maybe not the guy with the Hankooks going 1.6...I got to find me some of those tires.

Comp TAs are drag radials. They are DOT legal, but not generally considered "street tires".
WestCoast96Z28, those expensive tires (GS-D3, etc) are generally stiff-sidewall tires, which is good for handling, but not off-the-line traction.
Your best bet for off-the-line traction on a tire that is everyday useful, not horrible in the rain, and minimal sacrifice in handling, is (IMO) the Nitto 555R.

do you have rear lower control arms at all? a torque arm will help as well, before I put that stuff on my car it was around 2.0-2.1 a tenth dont sound like a lot but a tenth off the line is 2 tenths in the 1/4

I have lower control arms, but need to install relocation brackets. The LCAs are pointed in the wrong direction (higher at axle, lower at chassis). I have stock springs, but after 11 years and 115K miles, there's a natural lowering in the back. I did the measurement from the top of wheelwell to the ground, and I'm getting around 26 and 1/4 inches...about 1" lower than stock.
I have the relocation brackets and some new LCA with spherical rod ends....yeah, i know, better for autocross not drag, but i want EVERYTHING. We'll see how the brackets help.
As for the torque arm, I still have the stock one for 2 reasons 1) more expensive mod than the relo brackets and 2) I've "heard" that unless your 60s are around 1.5, a new TAs not going to help much.
