Lowering Help Please

hi, I've got a 2000 V6 Camaro and I'm wanting to install this eibach pro-kit and plan on doing it myself

I have been searching and reading here on the board and got some good instructions and info but there is a few questions that I need answers to.

First, - can a rent a spring compressor somewhere or should I just buy one? - Actually I going to call a few places about rentals.

Second - Should I get new shocks for this eibach kit? Several websites say that you do not have to replaced the factory shocks although I see everyone saying you gotta replace the shocks I want car to handle soft & tight like a new car.

Exactly which shocks should I get to go with the eibach kit and where can I get them for a good price?

It's funny how all the sites are hush hush about shocks like they don't want you to see how much this really costs.

i got some camaro fender flares for $60. I have not received them yet but I think they will be a cheap way reduce the gap between the body and the wheels by a little and make the car look wider. I'm going to wait to see them installed before I buy anymore lowering stuff. takin it one step at a time

1) You can rent spring compressors but an alternative is too just take both of your complete struts to a shop and have them install your new spring/shock combo onto the strut. This is a safer alternative for a tad more money.

2) Yes, get new shocks while your doing it. The best shocks you can buy would be the Koni's, but Sam Strano ( a supporting vendor here) revalves bilstein shocks for lowered cars. A cheaper alternative that would be too just buy some new regular shocks. Most people who choose this route, have said they have had good results. However, the ride and handling could be sooo much better over stock with some shocks that are valved to control the car with less room to do so.

3) Fender Flares.......uh oh. Unless you managed to smuggle a pair of Dick Harrell quarter panels into your garage, I would think long and hard about those

If you have an Autozone you don't have to rent a compressor. Just give them a $40 deposit and they refund it all when you retunr the compressor.

Some other parts to price: adj. pan hard bar and LCA relocation brackets.

Good call, I forgot about the adjustable Panhard Rod.

Good advice from both guys above

On the fronts I think taking the shock assemblies to a shop to have them disassembled/reassembled is a good idea if you don't have an impact wrench, the nut on the tops of the shocks can be a bastard to get off. They tend to rust on there pretty good. If you do have a shop do it, make sure they get the upper shock mount and the lower mount aligned correctly. You can't turn them once the whole thing is assembled.
As far as shocks, keep in mind that a stiffer spring has different shock requirements than a softer one. You are putting stiffer springs on the car, so you will want shocks with softer compression valving and stiffer rebound to control the springs. With mismatched shocks you will be dissatisfied with the end results and probably end up doing it twice.

Fender flares on a 4th gen?

green has all the right answers, I lowered my ws6 and my ss and it looks nice but to honest i'll never do it again. i'd rather drive and not worry about scraping stuff. i used auto zones compressor don't forget an alignment that was my first pain as I had to find a shop who could get my ws6 on a rack.

yeah, that's why I want the eibach kit since it only lowers the car 1", 2" I think is too much.

Bud M - thanks for the alignment tip.

Does anyone know I good place to buy shocks and exactly what shocks I should get (does anyone know a part number), like I said it's hard to get any websites to reccomend something, I guess I could call one of them but i don't even know of a good one to call.

The problem I've seen and read with Eibach is the rear springs tend to settle making the rear set lower than the front.
