I don't know if you are talking about frount or rear but most people just keep the stock ones. I don't think very many people change the out.

Re: LCA's...why???

When you lower the body you lose some leverage. By lowering the control arm pivot point you regain that leverage. This helps plant the tires on sudden acceleration.

I agree to most people not replacing the upper and lower a arms, but LCA's, come on. That is the cheapest traction mod.

Sorry. I mis-read. I don't think you need to replace the control arms unless you are making serious horsepower. Maybe 420+ rwhp. You could have a local welder box the factory piece pretty cheaply by welding a flat top on the U shaped factory ones. I think replacing the bushing with new poly ones is worthwhile as it tightens things up a little.

Re: LCA's...why???

I've seen someone that put a piece of 1" pipe inside of the u shape of the LCA and replaced the bushing. Thought it was a good idea. Makes it pretty heavy. My chromoly BMR LCA weighs less than the stock LCA, so doing the pipe method would be pretty heavy.

I think its close to $80 for a set of poly bushings for our LCA's. You can get New aftermarket LCA's with poly bushings for around 100. Why make your own.

Re: LCA's...why???

Why???? Why not... those flimsy stockers are junk... upgrading your LCA's is a good way to plant your rear nicely. I went with Hotchkis when I did mine a while back... Nice heavy duty piece that I'm satisfied with... but these bad boys will give you one hell of a bumpy ride. There's some guys that sell the LCA's on ebay for a couple of bucks.. not bad either. Any how as someone stated earlier it's all about the Pinion angle. When you lower you car you can set the angle off.. the LCA bracts set the Pinion angle properly again.

Re: LCA's...why???

Lowering your car upsets BOTH the control arm geometry AND pinion angle. Control arm relocation brackets will correct the control arm geomtry for straight line traction but will not correct the pinion angle. the only way to get the pinion angle where it should be after lowering is with an adjustable torque arm. Wrong pinion angle causes driveshaft misalignment stressing u-joints and possibly creating vibration.

I believe the Trak-Pak is the unit that mounts to a cross-member and not the tranny; if so, yes, that is a better/safer unit that the Tranny mounted one. I should've gotten that one, but I can always sell my BMR "normal" TA for that one.
