Just installed C5 brakes 60-0 Wahoo!

I usually hang out over in Forced Induction but wanted to post here to let you guys know what an easy upgrade this was. Total install was less than 4 hrs.

I paid $529 shipped from Team Chevy for all the parts including Z06 brake pads and durastop rotors. I paid $239 for the bracketts from UMI Performance. Less than $800 dollars for factory new C5 brakes is a steal!

I immediately noticed a seat of the pants change in braking and it has become more drastic as the pads begin to seat. Other than the blower this is the second best upgrade for Lt1's.

Did you bleed the brakes correctly? This upgrade is a night and day difference.

I agree, this is definately how the f-body should have come stock. The pitiful brakes they called stock really suck.

BTW add some race pads, get them warm and watch how awesome they brake.

HUGE difference once the system was opperating properly (took multiple bleeds and time to seat).

Not a bad price for everything.

I did the LS1 setup on my car and it was a night and day difference i can't believe you think the C5 setup was hardly noticable.

Re: Just installed C5 brakes 60-0 Wahoo!

I first converted to LS1 brakes and was satisfied with the increased stopping power. I wasn't satisfied with their durability, however. I warped the LS1 rotors within 1 month of the installation. I converted to C5 front brakes and noticed an improvement over the LS1 brakes. Not as great of an improvement as the LT1 to LS1 brake conversion, but still a noticeable improvement. I've yet to warp the C5 rotors.

Definitely a good price from Team Chevy for $529. I went to my local Chevy dealer and he wanted $1200 for the exact same parts.

The internet is a beautiful thing when it comes to GM Parts.

I bought a 95z28 roller that have c5 front brakes on it, and can't wait to see how they feel compared to my other 3 4th gens.

I just did the swap 10 days ago, and man the difference is HUGE. I'll bet I could probably bleed them a little better and get more out of them.

Everything is fine. The only time I notice a big change is sudden stops. I must say THAT was worth all the trouble. Regular driving is not a huge difference like I said.

Re: Just installed C5 brakes 60-0 Wahoo!

Congrats! I loved the difference as well with the C5 upgrade. One of the things I liked the most was that the wet weather braking was drasticallly improved. Pedal feel was also much better.
