Jounce Bumper Questions / Problems
Jounce Bumper Questions / Problems
I recently replaced the original jounce bumpers in my 96 WS6. I ordered a new set through Jason and was very surprised when they arrived. They don't look at all like the original ones I removed. First, the material appeared more poly like whereas the originals were more of a dense composite sort of stuff. Second, they are much taller. The car came with the bumpers mounted with a spacer from the factory. The new bumper is so tall that if I add the spacer they rest directly on the axle when I lower the car
The new ones also seem more compliant and since I run 17x11's, I am impacting the wheel well at every dip in the road and even ripped a brand new tire when the tire went up into the wheel well and brought the fender lip down with it and shredded the side wall of the tire.
I have added the spacer back in the mean time but it makes for a very stiff ride, could be dangerous to both the axle and I'm sure does not allow proper suspension travel and I use this car in open track events and fairly agressive mountain driving.
Anyone ordered a new set lately for a WS6 or an SS? Maybe the cars that came from the factory (or SLP) with spacers use a different part number (although I did tell Jason it was a WS6).
TIA
