How do i remove this safely?

How do i remove this safely?

Guys, as you can see my strut piston broke in half...Now its stuck....How would be the safest way to remove this assembly for replacement...i dont want to get killed or tear my car up....any comments and suggestions are appreciated...Thanks!

I think that is such a dangerous situation that people might not want to risk being held liable for having their suggestions be responsible for causing serious injury or death. That needs to be taken to a professional who knows what he is doing and has very good insurance.

I've never seen anything like that before.

That's pretty screwed up. Spring and shock obviously toast. Like Fred, I can think of an idea or two, but there is risk involved. It just depends on how much tension is still there.
