Unhappy HELP! bleeading brakes r a pain

hey everybody

I just upgraded to LS1 brakes and tossed the LT1s..well now that the install is done im on to bleeding the system..first I bleed the master soilinoid then Bleed from farthest caliper to closest..did this routine 3 times and my brake pettle still sinks to the floor... What can I do or check ??It feels like theres alot of air in the system but when I go to bleed there isnt...Tommorow im planning on using a rubber mallet to beat on the calipers but I cant imagine that much air in the system...if you have any suggestion on how you bleed yours help a brotha out...thanks for your help

Re: HELP! bleeading brakes r a pain

I just did the LS1 upgrade also and bled my brakes yesterday. Make sure all of you bleeder screws are closed. I had custom lines made longer for the calipers. If you reused your stock lines, make sure one doesn't have a crack or hole in it. Sorry I'm not much help, just a couple of things I can think of. I guess it would be obvious if a bleeder screw was left open as you'd have fluid everywhere.

You might try a Mityvac or similar.

The bleeder is on the top of the caliper with a cap on it. According to the Haynes manual. You bleed the ABS box (back then front). Bleed the calipers (RR,LR,RF,LF), then re bleed the abs box again. I think it says don't use synthetic brake fluid.

You also might want to see if the bleeder screw is plugged or clogged. One of my rears were. I just took a pik and cleaned the hole and it bled fine.

Motive Power Bleeder with the GM specific reservoir cap.

It pressurizes the fluid from the brake reservoir.. So then all you have to do is crack open the bleeder valves and let the fluid flow thru.. It takes more time to jack up and take off and on your wheels than it takes to bleed your brakes.

bleeder valves should be on the top of the caliper.

Yikes! Is this true?
Chilton's manula just says; use DOT-3 fluid. Do not use DOT-5 or silicone fluids, or fluids with a petroleum base.

It might be silicone based. I know it says don't use dot-5. Sorry

If they are on the bottom than that is your problem. Had the same issue with my friends jeep spent hours upon hours trying to bleed and then relized what we had done. Switch the calipers to there proper side and a few seconds it was bled.
