Global West's Traclink Installation

Have 95Z28 and am about to purchase GW Traclink. However, before I
do, I would like to know how easy or invasive the installation process
is. Is it a simple bolt on, or does it involve ripping some of the interior
apart.....Thanks

95 Z28 LT1..4L60E...everything done to it, except heads, cam, upgraded
fuel system, and Torque Arm.

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

You have to remove the rear driver side seat and lift the carpet a bit. Then you have to drill six 1/2" holes thru the floor and one 1/2" hole in your transmission crossmember.

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

Make sure your drill is charged cuz your gonna use it a lot. The installation is a pain in the ***, but its all worth it in the end. I get way less nose dive under braking and reduced squat out of the corners and launches. Overall the car is way more balanced. I would also look into the Unbalanced Engineering torque arm also. Check them out on www.unbalancedengineering.com

Best mod to my car has been the GW Tracklink though.

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

Thanks Mike for the uplifting info. I think i'd prefer the GW Traclink, but it
seems to be a bitch of a job. I am a musician, so I am having it done professionally.
Could you give me an estimate of how much time would/could be involved if a
Pro shop did the installation...Thanks again..Theo

95 Z28 LT1 AT. too much done to list...after T/A : headers, fuel system, heads, cam and Balancer, and timing kit..Cloyes. etc.

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

My final question...Does the Traclink system interfere with 1.3" lowering springs.
or : does the GW traclink cause problems with 1.3" lowering springs???
, or vice-versa.

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

A good shop with a lift should be able to get it done in two or three hours. I did mine on a Saturday afternoon.

Regarding the springs, I can´t tell for sure, but I think there would be no problem with them. I cannot think of a reason for them to interfere.

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

Hi Ricardo: It is hard to see from sample pics how this T/A bolts in. It states
that a Driveshaft Safety Loop is accommodated, but what kind of Safety loop.?
Does it need to be installed at same time Traclink is installed, or can it be
installed afterwards....thanks...Theo

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

The safety loop for the driveshaft is just a steel ring located after the front u-joint surrounding the driveshaft. It will hold it in place in case of a front u-joint failure. I believe Global West does not supply it with the kit. They just provide a metal plate with four holes for you to fabricate one. I have not installed one yet. I am still running radial tires. I will install a driveshaft loop as soon as I get my slicks.

I will email you a few pictures showing the tracklink installed.

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

Hey Ricardo, would you mind sending me some pics as well of your GW T/A installed? I would love to see how it clears things like exhaust, and to check out its ground clearance. It looks like it doesnt effect ground clearance at all the way it mounts up front, unlike the Spohn I had a few years ago, and others like BMR and UMI. That cross bar hangs too low for a lot of our wonderful North New Jersey roads. You cab send the pics here.

Re: Global West's Traclink Installation

Hi Ricardo: thanks for your support. I take it, that one can install the Traclink first
and then worry about the driveshaft safety-loop?! Looking fwd to seeing your install.
Specifically concerned which kind of safety-loop..BMR...Spohn..SLP..etc., but at least
it does not have to be installed when installing the Traclink.....Theo

You can see the clearance with the Track Link here along with a set of jet hot long tubes and custom y-pipe.
