Found cause of Rear End clunking

Today I finally decided to get under the car and try to eliminate all the squeaks, rattles, and clunks coming from the back. There was this one particular loud clunk when going over large bumps (railroad tracks, speed bumps) I checked all the usual suspects. The torque arm was tight, tranny mount good, LCA, and panhard tight as well. Then I took a look at my exhaust and i noticed that it had these weird marks on them. Finally it dawned on me that the driveshaft hits the exhaust as it spins whenever I go over a big bump and then the suspension unloads. Hope this helps somebody out.

Thumbs up Re: Found cause of Rear End clunking

That actually does answer my question to the exact same problem. It doesn't happen all the time with mine, only sometimes. That would explain though. Nice job.

Re: Found cause of Rear End clunking

holy crap...this may explain the unexplainable rattle/clunk that randomnly occurs on my car...Sounds very similar to the notorious "slack in the drivetrain" clunk...but instead is the "exaust vs driveline" clunk....nice...
