Are Eibach Sportlines to much of a drop?
Are Eibach Sportlines to much of a drop?
I have a 97 WS6 TA and i want to do eibach sportlines but im worried that it might be too low? I want to do 18inch wheels on my car and LT's so the guys that have sportlines let me know if i should just do the pro kit because of ground clearence. My other question is if i were to do the springs could i get away with the stock shocks i have on there now or will they get worn out too quick because of the drop?
thanks dave,
thanks dave,

You already have good springs. Now all you need are some bilsteins or koni's. I would start with shocks. That will make a huge difference in ride quality.
Re: Are Eibach Sportlines to much of a drop?
If you have got semi-large bumps on your way, you will scrape your LTs pretty much everytime with the Sportlines unless you "crawl" sideways over them. But that is the smaller of the concerns with the Sportlines. Those springs do not have enough rate for how much they lower the car, and you will be riding your bumpstops all the time which is not exactly the best thing to do. Not worth the hassle IMO.
If you want to lower that much, go with coil-overs. They are about $200 more expensive but well worth it if you can afford them. And do not ever, EVER use stock shocks with lowering springs. Stock shocks suck even with the stock springs, and they will make the car unsafe if you lower it an additional 2" or so. With a 2" drop, you will be wanting at least revalved Bilsteins (NOT the HDs, those are meant to be used with stock or stock-like non-lowering springs) or Koni single adjustable shocks. Good luck.
