Checking rotor runout

Just wondering if any of you had done this, on any vehicle. I've done a couple brake jobs over the years on my cars and I know I never have. I also own a 1982 Corvette that will be getting a brake upgrade in the near future. Every tech article / manual mentions doing this, so I'm not sure if this is actually something very specifically important on the Corvette setup, or if the 'Vette guys are just making a big thing of it. Maybe you old school muscle guys have some opinions TIA

if you are doing a brake upgrade, i'm assuming you will be replacing the rotors, so checking the runout of the old rotors doesnt mean very much

Right, I'm talking about checking runout on the new rotors. Runout for the car is 0.005".

As long as you're right there and the rotor is in the open it would only be a couple extra minutes.

Gotta admit that I don't on a "regular" car, just give it a spin and
eyeball it.

Thing is, I don't have the micrometer / dial indicator tool I would need.

u dont need a micrometer to check rotor runout just a dial indicator
they're not terribly expensive and you wontbelieve how many times you'll use it for different things
