Can I remove this safely?

The small black metal "brace" that is under the passenger seat that goes across the I-pipe. Can I ditch this? It has been rattling and causing vibrations under acceleration. I have used a grinder and notched it out and tried prying it down further and still it hits the exhaust. Has anybody did this?

I put some washers between the brace and the body.

I also used about three washers on each bolt and it works like a charm!

Check to see if your transmission mount is worn. As they get old and wear they compress which will cause the exhaust to hang a little lower. I replaced mine with a new GM one and the new one was atleast 1" taller.
