C5 Brake swap info

I emailed a company that makes C5 brake kits for older cars yesterday and mentioned to them about Bob Bishop's brackets and that they are no longer available.....

"I'm sure the thought has probably crossed your mind, but, for a few years there was a guy by the name of Bob Bishop that machined brackets so that C5 brake calipers would fit on 4th generation F-bodies and he sold quite a few of them. But he has since stopped making these and I can assure you the market is still there. People still ask about them all the time and are looking for a way to get C5 brakes on the 4th gen's.

Just a suggestion, but I think if you would make some brackets for the C5 brakes to fit our cars you would have a decent market following on them.

Their response:

"Hi Brent,
The 4th gen is definitly on our hit list. I recall seeing Bob's brackets on Ebay awhile back. They brought top dollar. Thanks for the suggestion and I will let you know when they will be available.

Thanks,

Re: C5 Brake swap info

Someone sold imitation brackets on ebay that were not as good as Bob's brackets. If you really read into it, alot went into the brackets that bishop sold. More than just machining a piece of billet aluminum. A company would have to put forth alot of effort to sell a package as well thought out as bishop's brackets. I think Bob's brackets are as good if not better than anything Baer or Brembo sells.

Talk to Trackbird over at www.frrax.com

He set up a GP with Bob, and may still have some available.

I'm hoping that's 4 calipers. You can buy the Z06's from GMpartsdirect for about $95 (or was it $85?) each for the fronts.

Re: C5 Brake swap info

You really only need to do the front brakes, there is little benefit changing the rear brakes to C5, just lots more money.

All my parts are on the way to change my fronts to C5 though!!!

You need 17 inch wheels. Bob can provide you with a template to measure prospective wheels. My C5 brakes clear my 17x9.5 ZR1s by less than a half inch on the backside of the caliper. They fill 17 inch wheels nicely.
