Broken torque arm!?

Could lowering my car have caused the top bar on my torque arm to snap right in front of the rear end mount and destroy the rest of the rear end mounting bracket? It seems that the top rear bolt (12 bolts have 4 bolts, not two) backed out and caused this.

Lowering it did not cause this, but not tightening the bolt enough was. Once it backed out. the diff nosed up and down every time you hit the brakes or gas pedal. The bent the T/A like a piece of wire. Once it had bent back and forth enough times, it broke.

Look at this as a good time to upgrade. LG Motorsports make a nice T/A.

That makes a whole lot of sense. I did hear a clunk under the car when I'd let off the gas or hit the brake. Unfortunately, I look at it as the time when I have to go back to the stock one because I cannot afford even another Edelbrock! Ouch. Oh well, may have a GSXR 750 to play with soon anyway.

>were you using the stock torque arm ? I got the http://www.bmrfabrication.com/F-body...htm#torquearms (TrakPak) for my 12 bolt and was wondering why there are 4 holes for the torque arm , but only 2 bolts for the 12 bolt rear (btw - Strange Engineering 12 bolt) ?

From what I understand only Moser 12 bolt rearends have 4 bolts. This is because they have bolts screw in from the top and bottom. Pretty much everyone else goes the stock route, which is 2 bolts that go all the way through the casting in the rearend and have nuts on the other side.
