Brake replacement qustions(pads, rotors, caliper rebuild?)
Brake replacement qustions(pads, rotors, caliper rebuild?)
First question...
What do you guys reccomend, I'd like stock or even a slight upgrade, ok on the dusting but do not wanna kill myself on cost.
I figure ebc greenstuff pads? (fronts and rears)~$120-150ish
I looked at Brembo blank replacements but ~$282 for all 4 corners
Shoudl I say **** it and get Durastop rotors and some pads from autozone/advanced auto/pep boys/Napa? Anyone reccomend any brand?
2nd question...
Now for the rest of the system. My fluid is cooked and looks like ***(black and green), Car is a 2k with 45k on it(light autocross, semi-aggressive driveing) brakes never been touched(rotors never warped) Doesn't make any noise but I can feel it not working so well as they used to.
I have been told only way for fluid to look like that is if its contaminated. If so should I rebuild my calipers? It doesn't look to hard if I am already doing pads and rotors, my question is, could I reuse seals if I take them out clean them clean the caliper and reinstall them? Or is it highly not reccomended(They aren't too cheap, gmparts direct quotes $7.99 a piston, 2 pistons per caliper. $64 for 8, to do all 4 corners, starts adding up with other brake parts)
Or could I pick this rebuild kits up from a local parts store?

Re: Brake replacement qustions(pads, rotors, caliper rebuild?)
Also on changing the fluid... should I just take a caliper off(I hear this will drain most the system) and let the fluid flow out, and add and bleed the brakes from there... or just bleed them the slow way until the fluid starts to look decent.
also any tips on this?
