Brake job....

I am three days away from picking up a clean one-owner '95 Formula convertible -- my dream car for the past ten years ---, and it has been pretty well maintained but is going to need front brakes soon. My front brake repair experience has been limited to the easy-as-changing-a-tire (and just as fast) disc rotor replacement of the many Toyotas I have used as drivers, and at the opposite end of the spectrum, the drums in my old collectors like the '69 L-48 Caprice I recently sold. So can anyone tell me what to expect when I go to replace the pads and rotors on the front of this thing? Are they designed for easy driveway repair? Does the anti-lock hardware cause any problems when removing the rotors...? Are there any diagrams from repair manuals or parts catalogs I can check out online?

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give.

Didn't take me long to do. Take two bolts out, use the caliper tool and take the pads/rotors off. The backs are alot harder, and involve some effort. I think its defiently driveway-able. Congrats on the new purchase.

That tool that presses the caliper in so you can get to the brake pads.

I'm not familiar with that need... on Toyotas, pads just pop right out, and only thing necessary is a clamp to push pistons back into caliper for reinstallation. Is that tool something I need to get at GM dealer, or just at any auto parts place...?

you can use the clamp method as it's basicly the same thing.

Re: Brake job....

Thanks for your info. I can't wait to drive it, and new brakes --- along with oil & coolant change. etc --- will take a few things off my mind.
