brake help..please

Ok folks.

I am in the middle of changing the front brake pads and with the new pads on, I cannot get enough clearance to clear the spacers on the end of the caliper bolts (approx 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch).

The piston caliper is colapsed completely.

Edit: this is the only thing I can think of...however it will not colapse any further and appears completely flush with the bracket.

I remember this issue on my 91, however can't remember for the life of me how I finally corrected it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you either have the wrong pads or rotors. What did you change?

Re: brake help..please

crack open the bleeder to see if the piston will compress a little more
if it does, your brake hose is clogged, time for a new one

if the piston surface is perfectly flat with the caliper body then dont waste your time opening the bleeder, i would say check the parts at the parts store, bring your pads in and ask to see a second set of pads, compare thickness

Re: brake help..please

i was just planning on changing the pads...I think the material thickness is just too much...never seen that much material on pads before (almost 7/16 on each pad)
