Brake Check

so i went in to get an estimate on resurfacing my rotors, and new pads... came out to about 390~ something...

also got a qute for all new rotors and pads, which was about 900

wtf, seems way high for both estimates. but they are lifetime replacement, so is it a good deal in the long run?

i can get 4 powerslot rotors for $400, and a set of hawk pads for $150~

Re: Brake Check

Replacing brake pads and rotors is very straight forward...I suggest you do it yourself. I'm running the Hawk pads in the rear and like them. Most shops will cut your rotors for $10 each. Of course, if they're below the minimum thickness, they'll need to be replaced. You can purchase rotors for as little as $32 each, but these rotors will not have a rust coating and will look like crap in no time. I suggest you do a search for "rotors" and get some opinions to "pick your poison".

Re: Brake Check

Talk about crazy prices!!!! That's insane. Really.

Like OBE1 95Z28 said, buy HAWK HPS pads, and some nice rotors and do it yourself. It's EASY. There is NO need to spend that much on rotors either. I would stay under $50 per rotor. Powerslots get you the slot and some nice coating, but in my opinion it's not worth the price.

While you are at it, replace the brake fluid. I recommend ATE TYP 200 from www.raceshopper.com It's great fluid.
