Brake bleeding trouble...
Brake bleeding trouble...
I instaleld a new MAster cyilinder in my car today.. I bench bled everything out ETC ETC... THen proceeded to go about the regular bleeding routine. ABS, RR,LR, FL, FR.... etc etc... I got the pedal extemely hard... with the help of myself and by 2X4 method... the pedal was Firm.... and all calipers shot out a steady stream.... durring the process... but when I go to turn the car on.. the Pedal droped signifigantly... and I checked the resivoir and the brake fluid I topped off after I completed the last caliper, had dropped quite a bit... what gives??? My Brake light is on... and I'm baffled...
What might be the cause of this??? I remember the last time the car was bleed... I took her to the dealer... and they had a rough time... they ended up turning the car on and off while they bleed it...??? is there somehting I"m missing here.... btw I'm using a Haynes manual for reference points.

Re: Brake bleeding trouble...
When I replaced my brake lines it took forever to bleed the system. Like a whole big bottle of brake fluid. Assuming its a good master cyinder, just keep at it and eventually it should firm up.
Re: Brake bleeding trouble...
well, first of all... the pedal will be easier when the car is started because of power brakes. the power brakes don't work until u start the car, therefore, making the pedal softer. lol the once u start the car, the power brakes are pushing the fluid into the lines more effectively which would, in a lot of cases, bring the fluid level down some in the master cylinder. but when u bleed brakes, you're "supposed to" start farthest away from the master cylinder and work forward. RR LR RF LF should be the order, but it really shouldn't matter. i bled them in opposite orders for a long time and the brakes worked fine.
