Bilstein Installation

Wanted to know if it is ok to spin the shock's shaft while holding the nut in place with a wrench to tighting it up? Or is it best to hold the shaft in place and spin the nut tight, which is a pain in the neck since there is no space to get a wrench on it and then turn?
