best way to bleed brakes
ok,
i upgraded to ls1 brakes on my third gen, and did the rear drums, i changed all the lines,
so all the lines are bone dry, is there any special technique to bleed the system without giving myself a problem w/ the proportioning valve
i figure if i started bleeding with the rear right i'd trip the brake light, and i wouldnt get any fluid to flow to the fronts,
am i right about that?

Re: best way to bleed brakes
I'm not really sure about the proportioning valve question. I've never had a problem w/ it. Start at the furthest point from the master cyl, RR then to the LR.....RF, then LF... Just heep bleeding till you have NO air. Just check the reservoir every three or 4 pumps.. I know the res on those is kind of big, but still..
Might have to re-check it 100-200 miles down the road. I upgraded to stainless braided lines and bled the crap out of them. I still need to re-bleed them again...

Re: best way to bleed brakes
yea yea, i know to start from the farthest and work your way to the front,
i've just never done it on a dry system before
i suppose the switch should just reset on its own when i get off the pedal, so as long as my helper presses slowly i'll be fine
i think
any more opinions?

Re: best way to bleed brakes
Actually I thought the same thing, bleed from the furthest away and work your way to the front driver side. But in my chiltins manual it said to prime the abs modulator then bleed the back right, front left, front right, and back left and then bleed the abs modulator again. I blead the system back right, back left, front left, front right and there was major air in the system. So I did it the right way and now it's great, my brakes feel awsome. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, get a manual and follow it to the tee.
