Best Tubular K-member for strength?

I'm not really concerned too much about the weight (any of them are far lighter than the stock piece), but more about header clearance and strength. My car is street driven and will occasionally see a road course.

I would probably stick with either BMR or UmiPerformance, with preference to the UmiPerformance part. I have heard several complaints regarding the PA Racing k-member in terms of strength with everyday street driving and overall quality&fitment.

I just installed a spohn on mine....very nice with lots of extra gusseting.
The PA is junk
Have not seen the others in person
I didn't think it was worth too much weight savings myself. For a street car I wouldn't bother

I seem to remember not too long ago Sam Strano was recommending the UMI K-member out of all the ones he sold because of the quality of construction. All the UMI suspension parts I've bought so far have all been quality pieces.

So you woun't recomend it?? how much of a weight savings did you notice?? I was going to put one on mine its a street/strip type, but you say it' wasn't much of a difference from stock, I'll just spen the money on Upper&lower control arms and Qa1's all around.

If you don't have Qa1's get them first.....It isn't that much weight savings...your better of doing other stuff first

Thanks for the quick reply, I was planing on getting one but I had my douts if it was really that much of a weight savings. Besides I already removed the abs, and front bumper support, I'm keeping the a/c and heater since I might sell it in the future don't know. I'm removing as much weight in the front as I can and plan on leaving the rear stuff alone to help with traction.

Also which QA1's do you recomend part# would be great??

don't know a part number....I had mine revalved and dynoed,

I would recomend putting the bumber suport back in...its not that heavy, and you bumber will sag and droop. What is your 60'?

Your main goal is to drop that....20 pounds aint going to do much on a street car, plus if you ever were to need that support in there you will be sorry....it absorbs alot of impact

Yeah, I'm still debating on removing it I was thinking of lighting it with a hole saw, as far as the 60ft don't know car has been in stands for a while car ran 12.3 with a 150pill a few years back. What do you think I'll benifit from more in weight red. My motor is being built still it's a 355 LE3 fully forged and a 200hp shot on top of that and it's an m6 with a 12blt and 373's.

I helped with the UMI design, and it is BY FAR the stongest K-member out there. You need look no further than the fact 2 cross tubes and gussets are used vs. single tubes and no gussets on the other versions.

The UMI K-member is 25 lighter than a stock version too. Which is not only price competitive, but includes motor mount stands.

Cost is $479. I sell them (as well as all of UMI's other products), and would be happy to answer any questions you might have about this or any other piece.

I have the Spohn k-member. really nice piece. It has 1 large single cross bar but just about every joint has guseting welded in. Nice welds too. Fit great and I got it on a GP for pretty cheap. A few friends and I got together and bought a little over $10k in parts from Spohn so I got it for a very good price.

I have seen the BMR, PA and AJE in person. The AJE look nice but it was not installed. The BMR looked good too but also was not installed. I was not impressed with the PA piece. It was installed and looked flimsy compared to the others.

Can't honestly comment on the UMI, but it looks like a decent piece from the pics I have seen.
