Banging in the tranny tunnel

My car has been banging when you floor it, when the tranny downshifts itl'l start banging, not just noise but something i can feel, it feels like its right next to my right hip in the drivers seat. I figured tranny mount and crawled under to take a look, tranny mount looks fine. Anyone know what else it could be?

Re: Banging in the tranny tunnel

I'm with the other guys, tranny mount. Mine looked good and I was puzzled until I pushed up just behind the mount and I saw real quick that the mount was broke in two. Visual won't always tell you the problem with these things.

Oh ya, sounds like the symptoms. when mine cracked in two, it felt like there was a leaprachaun under my car banging with a sledge hammer. It pained me to accelerate.

Thanks

To confess I think I know exactly when/if it broke (not that I would ever do this)

Clutch dump in reverse with the traction control on. VERY hard impact from beneath..... Sound like a possiblity?

Now I will get a Bang (never as hard as the one described above) every time I run down the track or do high RPM hard shifting.

BTW....Great looking 30th SS!
