Anyone know where to go to get a complete front end kit (bushings, and such)

I ordered, 3 weeks ago, from P-S-T (that's performance suspension technologies) a complete front end kit for $189... and i've been waiting on it and waiting... because it was backordered until June 10th.. then they call me on the 11th and say it's going to be backordered longer,... so i'm like "how much longer"... oh, just two more months!! UNACCEPTABLE!! Thanks for making me wait over 3 weeks for nothing!!

great, well i'm really in need of pretty much everything up front since the k-member has 185k on all the rubber. I need ball joints, bushings, outter tie rods, sway bar endlinks, stabilizer bushings etc. It's kind of a pain in the rear piecing together all the pieces from various auto parts places, and i was wondering if anyone knew of a place to get a decent price on a whole kit for less than $200?? I'm not going back to pst, and i already tried energy suspension, they only have bushings. Thunderracing has some of the stuff at a good deal, but not all of it. Anywhere anywhere?

any help would be great! thanks

Prothane?

you may have to just piece together a kit yourself

Trust me just wait for PST....

I've had their kits on 2 other cars and they rock

They are never timely but they are worth the wait

I also haven't seen any full kits besides them

Summit racing sells Moog ball joints and tie rod ends; Energy Suspension has a front end kit of bushings for the 4th Gen. Pieceing together the parts is the easy part!

I just got Moog replacements for everything from RockAuto.com. They are rubber, but some people prefer rubber to poly for the front end, so I am going with rubber. They don't have a package, but everything came out to a little more than $200, and it arrived within a few days.

I would wait.. the Poly graphite is much more rigid and rides so much better than straight poly.. I would only want to do that job once.. and those poly graphites are like +100,000 miles and Last much longer that stock.. You will feel the difference! I did my Tahoe and My Iroc.. Every penny worth it..

I have a FE kit on order from PST as well . With 123K on the car, its due some upgrading. I don't think you'll be able to piece a kit together for the PST price. Then again, I am in no rush.

BMR fabrication sells complete prothane kits sans motor mounts for $159.

Re: Anyone know where to go to get a complete front end kit (bushings, and such)

can't wait 60 more days... they already put me off 21 days, which is about 20 days more than i could wait to begin with. This was supposed to be running in early june. it's summer/spring project, not a fall winter project. I started working on it in March. The whole car is being re-done from the ground up. every nut and bolt is getting polished or replaced before it goes back on. I just can't wait 60 more days. I only ordered the stock replacement, not the polygraphite one, which was $80 more. I am dropping about 5,000 into this, and 2 years ago dropped about 5,000 into the 383. I just can't justify going more and more and more.
thanks everyone though! i think i'll piece a kit together or go maybe to BRM's site. I already have prothane motormounts, so i don't need those!!
cheers!

Re: Anyone know where to go to get a complete front end kit (bushings, and such)

I was considering the PST setup a few years back. I called the company for find out which brand of ball joints were included in the kit as I wanted quality parts. The Sales guy was rude and said the info was proprietary. I explained why I wanted to know and he blew me off. Ordered Moog parts the very same day from Summit Racing

Re: Anyone know where to go to get a complete front end kit (bushings, and such)

I called today and talked to the supervisor. I told him i would consider upgrading to the polygraphite kit if he would at least discount the kit or cut me a deal on air delivery since they already put me off almost 4 weeks. NOPE, nothing!! he was rude, he wouldn't budge at all, and he made it seem as if it wasn't his their fault at all. Totally blamed the manufacturer. I told him that i got the feeling that he didn't care the moment he got on the phone (instant attitude) and that while i was small potatoes with a $200 order, I said that if 10 people ordered the same kit and got the same result un-professional service i did, that they would be out $2000, which is a big deal. He said there was nothing he could do about it, to which i replied there is, you could at least cut people deals when you put them out for so long and make things such an inconvenience. I mean, seriously, what a crappy company. So what if they have good parts!! a company is only as good as their customer service, and as far as i'm concerned, i'll never recomment PST parts to anyone!!

Re: Anyone know where to go to get a complete front end kit (bushings, and such)

They sent me 2 polygraphite kits and I only paid for one.... The only difference was the sway bar bushings.. One set had stock 30mm, and the other was LE1 32mm.... Their loss, my gain... This was back in 2001, I probably would have sent it back, but their customer service wasnt very friendly....... Faily good product... But I wont buy anything again..

Poly will not last very long in the caster bushing. Go with Moog bushings there. Poly should be OK in the camber bushing. Sam can get you what you need.

I just went through this so I'll offer up some additional advice...

Since you're in a "winter" state (as I was until recently) I would SERIOUSLY consider buying new GM lower control arms. They come loaded with new bushings and balljoints.

My stock bushing shells were extremely rusted. I was within $50 of new arms by the time I had the machine shop burn / press the old bushings out and install new bushings and balljoints (I had already removed the old balljoints myself).

I'd gladly exchange the $50 for a HUGE reduction in hassle.

well in that case, should i get factory GM upper control arms as well? do they come with ball joints and bushing too? Then all i would need is to find outter tie rod ends for my car and i'd be set. I get a GM employee discount, so it's 10% over cost. I wonder if this would be a better bet.

Re: Anyone know where to go to get a complete front end kit (bushings, and such)

I'm pretty sure that the uppers come loaded as well but double check me.

I didn't really mess with the uppers since my stockers got replaced with Global West pieces.

Also to clarify...

I replaced the lower bushings with new rubber Moog pieces in each position. I replaced both upper and lower balljoints with Moog units (GW uppers didn't come with balljoints). You'll want their "Problem Solver" pieces. I believe they're teflon lined. Sam can get you those as well.

It is a little cheaper to replace the hardware rather than the whole arm but be prepared to wage an ugly battle if the stuff is rusted.
