Not as GM intended... I was under the car changing the oil when I noticed. The strange thing is that I have no idea how it would have happened.

It's the front sway bar, passenger's side.

Re: Anyone do this before...?

Is that just a painted GM part or some replacement bracket?

It's a powder coated GM part.

Impressive because I was able to snap that part or that the broken part looked impressive? Either way, thanks.

You powder coated the bracket?

I have seen some people powdercoat there rims and the become so brittle they will crack. It has to do with them having to bake the part for the powder coat to work. Just a thought anyways.

Not being a metallurgist myself I can't say for sure, but I've never seen any powder coated part fail due to the curing process weakening the integrity of the metal....but there is always a first time for everything I guess.

Re: Anyone do this before...?

i'm assuming you did tighten down the bolts on the bracket when u installed it so its quite impressive that u were able to generate a cornering load strong enough to break the bracket

assuming the structural intergrity of the bracket wasnt ruined

Re: Anyone do this before...?

Hahaha done that 3 times, atleast I'm not the only one. Always the passenger side too. First 2 stockers, ripped away like nuthin, last time put in the energy suspension ones. They had much beefier "steel?" and grade 8 bolts didn't rip straight down the seam like that, it kinda went halfway over the curved part. I'll try to post a pic, lol. Drive it like you stole it!!!

Re: Anyone do this before...?

Could have been a flaw in the metal itself, especially since it is right there at the bend.
