Another Clunking Noise Question

I know there have been numerous threads posted about rattles and clunks, but I still can't seem to track mine down. The noise is a random, metalic-sounding rattle. It happens when going over small bumps and uneven pavement. Seems to be coming from the rear of the car. Also, it started happening shortly after replacing brake pads and rotors all the way around. The clunk also goes away when the brakes are applied. I have cranked down hard on all control arm and panhard bolts, installed subframe connectors, made custom exhuast hangers (to ensure the pipe wasn't hitting anything), and replaced front lower control arm bushings and ball joints in an effort to silence the clunking noise. The car also has fresh poly engine mounts, and a new stock rubber trans mount. The torque arm is mounted off the trans using a UMI relocation cross member and poly bushing (stock torque arm). Driveshaft is less than a year old (3.5" aluminum), and the tail shaft bushing in the trans is brand new (as is the entire transmission). Any help is much appreciated.

From your quote: Also, it started happening shortly after replacing brake pads and rotors all the way around. The clunk also goes away when the brakes are applied.

Its probably somewhere around the caliper area....

Mount the tq arm back on the tranny and see if that helps. Chassis mounted tq arms are noisy.

I'd take a look at the rear calipers/pads to make sure nothing is loose. It's been a while since I looked at mine, don't the pads have a spring to hold them tight? Is that properly positioned?
