Am I stupid for thinking of this?

Ok I got rid of my ABS awhile ago because of my 9". Since then, I've been fighting brake fluid leaks on the hard line that goes from the prop. valve to the rear brakes. I am getting fed up with it, and am thinking about running a stainless braided line from the prop. valve all the way back to the y-block at the rear. It would get rid of the leaks, and actually should improve my braking?

smart idea or dumb idea?

don't see how it would improve things to replace a hard line with any type of flexible line steel braided or not. but if it fixes your leaks I guess go for it. why don't you fix the hard line with a hard line to fix the leak?

because it's hard to flare the line because it is right up against the body and in an akward spot..... I've tried reflaring it a couple of times already and if I go any further, I will have taken off so much off the line that I would end up replacing it.

my flaring skills suck.

Teflon flex hose is considered a maintenance item and will expand very slightly. I would recommend running a new hard line or pulling it far enough from the body to re-flare and just put an adapter to extend it.

exactly...go to the store and buy a 4' section of tubing with the flare nuts...then you'll have all the room you need to work
