Air suspension

Okay, so having done some reading on ridetech.com for tech details, I just re-watched the episode of Horsepower TV where they installed the Air Ride Technologies air suspension setup on their '98 SS.

I am really impressed. I think I'm going to do this mod. Gotta save up a pile of money first, but it looks like a sweet setup.

Any thoughts?

Re: Air suspension

air ride technologies gives a free catalog, i'm interested in a set up for my 3rd gen, but regular springs are so much cheaper

Re: Air suspension

I think that the ability to get into driveways with steep angles and over big speedbumps without scraping/bumping is worth a lot of money, as is the ability to have a selectable ride quality. If I'm on a straight stretch of rough road, I have no need (nor desire) for the harshness of an Eibach Pro Kit or whatever.

TTT for more opinions.

consider most articles and television shows are ads...

if you can get that out of the way surprisingly the systems when setup correctly do work. i love mine. the best thing i've done to my car as i'm doing another kit on my next thirdgen project which will also be ART.

This thread is eight months old.

I still haven't done anything to my suspension. I'm still interested in ART, but I'm concerned about maintaining good camber throughout the range of adjustment. Does the ART system do anything about this?

through the range? think about this... it isn't possible. that's why you set up your camber and all your necessary alignment properties to a specific air pressure/ride height. it's not physically possible to have something like that unless you have automatic adjustment camper pieces as well as lca's, end links, etc.

you pick your ride height and pressure by testing it out on your most used road surface and then adjust/align. you can go back to the same pressure after movement with no issues but obviously if you are 10+ psi off you'll cause problems down the road.
