Adusting front driver wheel?
Adusting front driver wheel?
On my car, the front driver wheel turns out when the other is straight. What can I adjust to straighten it out? The steering wheel has to be turned a bit to the right to compensate in order to drive straight. I've taken it to a couple shops and they all say my rear end is crooked and that's what is causing the steering, but you clearly see the front driver wheel turns out when the other is straight.
Well I got under neath silver bastard today and I adjusted it. I turned twice rotated the tie rod inwards and it seemed to help it drive straight. Of course it's raining now so a true test won't happen. But visually, the tire doesn't stick out further than the other. I want to use yard sticks and place them against the outside of each tire and measure the distances between the ends. Then I can truly see if they tires are straight.

I used a steel tape with a thumbtack through the 1" mark. Spun each tire and used a fine point marker to make a mark on the center of the tread. The thumbtack held the tape in place because there was just one of me. Didn't do this on the Z but it worked on the '62 and I finally got the steering wheel straight and the toe-in just right for essentially $0.
