Adjustable shock tower brace?

I had this given to me the other day. Looks like a BMR but has a double thread in the middle to adjust while on the car. Why is this the only adjustable one I have seen? Any benefit from preloading the shock tower?

I will try to get pics up tomorrow.

That sir ....is the most awesomest homeade..er...adjustable STB I've seen.

Be willing to bet that it was something that somebody bought and tried to install on their twisted rig and it wouldn't fit. So they "made it fit"...

Na....looking at it a second time. That is TOTALLY home made bro.

Nice,
Ivan

Seems whoever made this wasn't the only one thinking about it.

I've heard of it, and seen it used on cars used for road-racing primarly; not totally sure of why it would need to be adjustable/pre-loaded.
