1997 Z28 Struts and Shock Recommendations

I'm looking to get a non adjustable strut shock combo replacement for my 97 Z28, i'd like a firm ride to allow for higher speed cornering and hiway uh....lane changes I don't want to ride on rails though. I will be installing a GMMG Eibach Lowering kit for it, and will have 18" wheels to accompany the set up. Any recommendations would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

unless you will be doing aut crossing, road racing, or serious drag racing, i'd just stick with kyb's. they are cheap in price, good in quality, and seem to be the perfect choice for budjets. they will be good in handling and straight line. they're no QA1's, but who want to spend 600 for shocks? lol not me

Alot of people on the board have said good things about the bilsteins and a set of all four will run around 340.00 off of thunderracing.com

I would say go with the Bilsteins. They are of very good quality with a life time warranty and though they are not a perfect match for your spring rates, they will definately be enough for your application. If you later decide that you want to road race or auto-x, you can have them revalved to match your spring rates. I personally would not recommend anything lesser unless you are on a budget that the bilsteins will not fit into. Had experience with KYB, Tokico, etc. on various cars and did not have good experience with them (i.e. did not last very long). You don't want to have to pull the assembly again to replace a blown shock.

My vote goes for Bilsteins. I got mine off ebay for $315 shipped.

Bilsteins are a good cheap entry level shock that can be revalved later. Don't get KYBs.
